This quote is in Caryl Phillips book titled The European Tribe. A friend lent this book to me and I started reading it just after the England Riots in August. In the book, he discusses the riots in England and what he feels are the causes - relative deprivation, the feeling that the terms on offer are unjust, coupled with feelings of valuelessness (127). He wrote this book in 1987.
